Saturday Emcee: Arvin Vohra

 

Arvin Vohra is the current Vice Chairman on the Libertarian Party National Committee. Arvin ran for US Senate in Maryland in 2016 and hosts the Libertarians Working for You radio program. He studied mathematics and economics at Brown University and owns his own educational business.

Mr. Vohra will also be holding a Candidate Training Workshop later in the day, Saturday.

Senator Laura Ebke

Senator Laura Ebke: Being All In For Liberty

Senator Laura Ebke was elected to the Nebraska legislature in 2014 and represents Legislative District 32. In June 2016 she switched her political affiliation from Republican to Libertarian. She said at the time “I got frustrated with some of my colleagues who don’t recognize civil liberties and don’t seem to agree with getting government out of people’s business.”

Senator Ebke will be the Speaker during the Convention Banquet Saturday night.

Kevin McCormick was a 2016 Libertarian Party presidential candidate. He also ran for Arizona House District 15 as a Libertarian. He lives in Phoenix and works for VMware AirWatch.

1994 Society Breakfast

Nick Taiber is a City Councilman At Large in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

The 1994 Society Breakfast is a free breakfast for members of the 1994 Society. These members are the life-blood, sustaining, members of the Libertarian Party of Indiana. To become a 1994 Member, one must donate a minimum of $10 per month to the LPIN.

MEMBERSHIP: To guarantee your status as a delegate to the convention, including voting rights, you must be a member of the LPIN in good standing by March 31, 2017. Membership dues are $25 annually to either the Libertarian National Committee or the Libertarian Party of Indiana or a minimum $10/monthly through the 1994 Society Sustaining Member program. To confirm membership, please consult with your district representative or email Joe Hauptmann at lpinhq@lpin.org. Convention registration fees do not count toward membership.

DELEGATE STATUS: Affiliated county delegates to the LPIN Convention and Business Meeting are selected at county conventions. Check with your county chairman for the dates of your local convention. Convention Rules

▪ Rule 1: Proposed amendments to the bylaws made by the Rules and Bylaws Committee will be
discussed first followed by any additional proposals submitted to the chair in the order they were
received by the April 6th, 2017 deadline. A motion with a second must be raised on the floor to
bring each proposed amendment to the floor.
▪ Rule 2: The delegate sponsoring the proposed amendment will be given one minute to speak on
behalf of the amendment. The floor will then be open to discussion by the delegates. Each delegate
will have one minute to speak on the proposed amendment. The first delegate recognized must be in opposition to the proposed amendment unless no delegate in opposition asked to be recognized.
▪ Rule 3: Order and procedure of nominations for the election of officers:
• Chairperson
o Total of 5 minutes for each candidate and nominator(s) to speak.
o Combined 20 minutes for questions to all candidates.
o 10 minutes for discussion by delegates.
• Vice Chairperson
o Total of 3 minutes for each candidate and nominator(s) to speak.
