On March 24th, 2012 the Libertarian Party of Indiana will hold their annual nominating convention in Indianapolis, IN at the Holiday Inn Caribbean Cove Hotel & Water Park. Members of the party will gather together to attend workshops, select leadership and elect candidates.
The Libertarian Party in Indiana does not participate in the primary due to Indiana’s election code, so candidates are selected by delegates at annual nominating conventions. Delegates will gather at 1 PM EST on Saturday March 24 to conduct their business meetings. Voting will begin at approximately 1:30 PM. The media is welcome to attend the voting portion. Candidates will be available for interviews immediately after all voting has concluded. Candidates may make the choice to open their media availability up immediately after their race has been voted upon.
Both potential Gubernatorial nominee Rupert Boneham and potential U.S. Senate nominee Andy Horningare without competition. Brad Klopfenstein, founder of the Tavern League of Indiana and former Executive Director of the Libertarian Party of Indiana, is the only declared candidate for Lt. Governor.
The Libertarian Party of Indiana will also hold a Presidential debate and straw poll. Participants include former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson, R. Lee Wrights, Bill Still, and Jim Burns. The Presidential debate, moderated by IndyPolitics.org’s Abdul-Hakim Shabazz, will begin at 8:30 AM EST on Saturday March 24. The media is invited to attend the debate. Candidates will be available for interviews immediately following the conclusion of the debate.
Candidates elected at the convention and the straw poll results will be made available in a press release following the conclusion of the business meeting.
