The Libertarian Party of Johnson County Board (LPJC) endorsed independent candidate for Johnson County Sheriff Phil Murphy. This is the first time that the LPJC has endorsed an independent candidate.
“Phil Murphy’s exceptional qualifications for this office and commitment to service has made us look beyond party lines,” said said JCLP Chair Erwin Salazar. “Besides being the most qualified of the candidates Phil Murphy shares our view of limited government and represents a real choice for Johnson county voters.”
As Phil Murphy explains, “I believe this was the plan of our founding fathers when they determined there should be a limit to any administration in order to keep things moving forward. This current administration has reached that limit…. I am running to give those who didn’t vote for the Republican candidate a second chance to have a change of direction and a fresh outlook.”
Salazar says, “We had no Libertarian candidate for sheriff but after coming to know Lieutenant Detective Murphy I had no reservation in asking the LPJC board to support Phil Murphy and encourage all Johnson County voters to take a look at an independent candidate that will put public interest in front of party affiliation.” Learn more about Phil Murphy at www.philmurphyforsheriff.com.
The LPJC is affiliated with the Libertarian Party of Indiana, the states third largest political party and works toward less government intrusion in all aspects of life. For meeting and contact information visit www.jclp.org.
