Rush County Libertarian Party Makes History!

The Rush County Libertarian Party met this week to elect delegates to the Indiana LP State Convention in April and to elect new local officers for the 2013-2014 term.

The LP State Convention will be held April 19, 20, and 21 at the Clarion Hotel in Columbus, Indiana. Tom Monka and Frances Lewis were elected as Rush County Delegates to the Convention.  Alternates chosen:  Paul Morrell, Joyce Morrell, Danielle Clevenger, Patty Monka, Austin Monka, and Luke Nigh.

The Party made history this week in electing four women to leadership positions for Rush County. The newly elected officers are:

Chairwoman: Joyce Morrell
Vice Chairwoman: Frances Lewis
Secretary: Patty Monka
Treasurer: Mary Page

This multi-talented group of women have a combined 65 years experience in political organizing, fundraising, business, and non-profit operations.  They are a great representation of the population of Rush County and bring many skills to the Rush County Libertarian Party.

Candidate Achievements in 2012: Jeremiah Morrell for HD 54

(We are sharing some of the hard work of some of our Libertarian candidates during the 2012 cycle as a way to say thank you for moving the Libertarian Party forward.)

In a district that is 50 miles corner to corner over 3 counties, Jeremiah Morrell is ready to continue the historic run by Rex Bell in 2010.

Jeremiah has raised and spent more than any other Libertarian House candidate with $3,500.  With this, he’s distributed 15,000 door hangers  7,000 business cards, 30 tee shirts, Facebook advertising reaching 18,000 likely voters, 250 yard signs, and 8 billboards around the district. Helping distribute this literature are 30 campaign volunteers. His volunteers will pass out 4,000 of the Libertarian Party of Indiana slate pieces.

Jeremiah has also been an active campaigner at local events, spending 14 full days at county fairs, state fair, or festivals and four parades. He was also in three debates, of which one was televised. Because of his efforts, Jeremiah was frequently in the newspaper.

Jeremiah’s efforts also helped to affiliate one new county party in his district: the Libertarian Party of Henry County.

Jeremiah Morrell: Keep pushing the same button, keep getting the same result

Tonight the campaign stopped in Knightstown at the world famous Hoosier Gym. Candidates from offices ranging from Superintendent of Public Instruction down to County Council and School Board were in attendance. There were about 50 Knightstown residents in the stands, listening to all of us speak.

I am proud to say that I talked about the same principles tonight as we have throughout the campaign. By voting for Libertarians such as myself, you cast a ballot for more freedom, less government, and free markets.

The support that I have received at events has been a thrill. After every event, other candidates come up to me, telling me about how well I spoke…I don’t believe that I speak particularly well. I just deliver the same message as our other Libertarian candidates. If you want something different from your government, you have to choose something different. I hope that some of the other parties candidates listened to my message, and Rex Bell’s message tonight.

My race is a very low risk decision for voters. Since this is a two way race, (No Democrat), there is no risk of accidentally getting the wrong fellow elected. Tonight in my summation, I stated that if you keep pressing the same button in the ballot box, you keep getting the same results. Almost every candidate talks about the same issues, jobs, roads, education, transparency in government. But yet it never seems to change…Four years from now, the same candidates will probably be making the same statements.

If you want limited government, you need to vote for limited government. These next few weeks are going to be exciting! It might actually happen.

Jeremiah

Rush County Libertarian Candidates Seeking Support

(Written By Jeremiah Morrell, a Rush County Libertarian.)

This spring, Joyce Morrell accepted the challenge and has since formed a very strong campaign for a County Council seat. Joyce has teamed with long time friend, Victoria Foley as the first two candidates for office in Rush County on the ballot for the Libertarian Party of Rush County.

Joyce is in a two way race for this seat. She does not face Democratic opposition in this race. This is a very exciting and promising race for Libertarians state wide

Both Joyce and Victoria have been working hard on the campaign trail to win election in Rush County. Over the summer, they have attended countless fairs and festivals throughout the county.

There is some very exciting news about the campaign, as we are heading into the final 40 day push before Election Day! New campaign yard signs will be available very soon, along with the campaign mounting a door to door effort, distributing literature about Joyce & Victoria. If you would like to help, please contact via this Facebook Group or by visiting http://rush.lpin.org/ the homepage of the Rush County Libertarians.
