Let’s Put the Oil Spill Crisis to Good Use and Take Control

“You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” Rahm Emanuel

Finally, Rahm and I agree on something! Unfortunately, we’re going to part ways on the solution to putting the Deepwater Horizon crisis to good use. The Obama administration and the left will argue that the Federal Government needs to interfere more in the operations of oil companies, and needs to toughen environmental standards. I believe that this path lessens the self-interest and responsibility to protect it’s bottom line, and ultimately to protect our environment. Government interference, crony capitalism and the systemic failures it breeds are as much to blame for the spill as British Petroleum.

This episode explains perfectly why the American (and World) population are frequently growing tired of a class of people that say they are all-knowing and yet are all-failing while sticking us with the bill. It’s why the groaning for more personal responsibility is beginning to grow.

Don’t Get Mad, Get Even!

My 11th grade history teacher once told my class that we have an illusion of power when it comes to our government. He said “You all will follow my instructions because I am the teacher, and I have the illusion of power. But there are 30 strong individuals in front of me, and you could easily ignore or overtake me at any moment. But you don’t, because you think I control you or you are too afraid of the consequences.”

We have the ability to change our government through political means because there are more of us than them. We are the power base in this country and we DO have the leash on our government. It’s time to pull the leash. We have the opportunity in 2010 to reach out to independents, tea partiers, uninvolved libertarians, and the politically homeless.

2010 Revolution!

In the 40 years of the Libertarian Party, no election cycle has held the promise of growth like 2010. The last 3 years of reckless and shady dealings in Washington have led Americans to the realization that they are no longer in control of their own lives. Their politicians are no longer looking out for their best interest.

The average American voter wants to take that power back. This year’s growth can change the ability of the Libertarian Party of Indiana to affect more public policy and win more elections for the next 100 years.

I’m Thankful for You!

First, thank you for an amazing year. I have loved every minute of serving you in my role as Executive Director over the last 12 months. I can assure you that 2010 will be a year that will forever transform both the LPIN and Indiana politics. I thank you for all the hard work that you have put in beside me in the last 12 months to grow the LPIN. But Thanksgiving is not just a day to give thanks for our friends, families, and blessings.

It is also a day to remember the sacrifice that generations before us made in the name of liberty.
