It has been said that government goes to those who show up, and, residents of Indiana, it is time to show up. The Libertarian Party of Shelby County is proud to announce they are hosting the first ever “Day at the Dome” on Tuesday, Feb. 19. We will be leaving Shelbyville at 9 a.m. sharp to meet with the General Assembly on the issues of 2nd Amendment Rights, Senate Bill 020 (Use of Warrantless Drones) and Senate Bill 0002 (DNA required if arrested).
Currently, we have meetings arranged with Rep. Sean Eberhart, who will be sitting in for House Speaker Brian Bosma, and Sen. Tomes, who has introduced Senate Bill 020.
There is no question that 2nd Amendment Rights are a major issue in Indiana. The Libertarian Party of Shelby County believes citizens have a right to walk the streets safely and be secure in their own home. We are asking politicians to encourage gun ownership, as well as education and training programs. Indiana Senate Bill 020 is one that many Indiana residents are not aware of and it pertains to residents being under surveillance in their own home. This is a direct violation of the Indiana Constitution Section 11, which grants citizens the right to be secure.
Finally, Indiana Senate Bill 0002 grants the police the opportunity to collect DNA from anyone arrested on a felony charge. This is a direction violation of the 14th Amendment, which has a due process clause.
The time is now to get involved, show up and begin to take our state back. If you feel like we do, we’d love to see you on the 19th at the Day at the Dome.
